¹⁹ in which^[a] he went and ^(A)proclaimed^[b] to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ because^[c] they formerly did not obey, ^(B)when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, ^(C)while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, ^(D)eight persons, were brought safely through water.

³⁰ For many years ^(A)you bore with them ^(B)and warned them ^(C)by your Spirit through your prophets. ^(D)Yet they would not give ear. ^(E)Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

Walk by the Spirit

¹⁶ But I say, ^(A)walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify ^(B)the desires of the flesh. ¹⁷ For ^(C)the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, ^(D)to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
