5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy [a]portion: for he loved Hannah, and the Lord had made her barren.
6 ¶ And her adversary vexed her sore, forasmuch as she upbraided her, because the Lord had made her barren.
7 (And so did he year by year) and as oft as she went up to the house of the Lord, thus she vexed her, that she wept and did not eat.

5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion(A) because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb.(B) 6 Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.(C) 7 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.(D)
