5 But to Hannah he would give a double portion,[a] because he loved Hannah, though Yahweh had closed her womb. 6 (Now her rival wife would provoke her severely in order to upset her because Yahweh had closed her womb.) 7 And so he used to do[b] year after year; whenever[c] she went up to the house of Yahweh, she[d] would provoke her so that she[e] would weep and would not eat.

5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion(A) because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb.(B) 6 Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.(C) 7 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.(D)
