8 “Hannah, why are you crying?” her husband Elkanah asked. “Why won’t you eat? Why are you troubled? Am I not better to you than 10 sons?”(A)
9 Hannah got up after they ate and drank at Shiloh.[a] Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s tabernacle.(B) 10 Deeply hurt, Hannah prayed to the Lord and wept with many tears.(C)

9 Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s house.(B) 10 In her deep anguish(C) Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly.
