¹⁴ but now your reign will not endure.^(A) The Lord has found a man loyal to Him,^[a](B) and the Lord has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not done what the Lord commanded.”

⁴ I will raise up shepherds over them who will shepherd them.^(A) They will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any be missing.” This is the Lord’s declaration.

²³ I will appoint over them a single shepherd, My servant David, and he will shepherd them. He will tend them himself and will be their shepherd.^(A)

²⁸ Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock^(A) that the Holy Spirit has appointed you to as overseers,^(B) to shepherd the church of God,^[a] which He purchased with His own blood.^(C)
