1 Samuel 18:11-13
New English Translation
11 and Saul threw the spear, thinking, “I’ll nail David to the wall!” But David escaped from him on two different occasions.
12 So Saul feared David, because the Lord was with David but had departed from Saul. 13 Saul removed David[a] from his presence and made him a commanding officer.[b] David led the army out to battle and back.[c]

11 and he hurled it, saying to himself,(A) “I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David eluded(B) him twice.(C)
12 Saul was afraid(D) of David, because the Lord(E) was with(F) David but had departed from(G) Saul. 13 So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led(H) the troops in their campaigns.(I)
