17 This sin of the sons of Eli was extremely serious in the Lord's sight, because they treated the offerings to the Lord with such disrespect.

18 In the meantime the boy Samuel continued to serve the Lord, wearing a sacred linen apron. 19 Each year his mother would make a little robe and take it to him when she accompanied her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

New International Version
17 This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they[a] were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.(A)
18 But Samuel was ministering(B) before the Lord—a boy wearing a linen ephod.(C) 19 Each year his mother made him a little robe and took it to him when she went up with her husband to offer the annual(D) sacrifice.
