17 So the sin of the young men was very bad before the Lord. For the men hated the gift of the Lord.

18 Now Samuel was serving the Lord, even as a boy, wearing a linen vest. 19 Each year his mother would make him a little coat. She would bring it to him when she came with her husband to bring the gift in worship each year.

17 This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they[a] were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.(A)
18 But Samuel was ministering(B) before the Lord—a boy wearing a linen ephod.(C) 19 Each year his mother made him a little robe and took it to him when she went up with her husband to offer the annual(D) sacrifice.
