1 Samuel 20:7-9
New American Standard Bible 1995
7 If he [a]says, ‘It is good,’ your servant will be safe; but if he is very angry, (A)know that he has decided on evil. 8 Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for (B)you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you. But (C)if there is iniquity in me, put me to death yourself; for why then should you bring me to your father?” 9 Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! For if I should indeed learn that evil has been decided by my father to come upon you, then would I not tell you about it?”

1 Samuel 20:7-9
New International Version
7 If he says, ‘Very well,’ then your servant is safe. But if he loses his temper,(A) you can be sure that he is determined(B) to harm me. 8 As for you, show kindness to your servant, for you have brought him into a covenant(C) with you before the Lord. If I am guilty, then kill(D) me yourself! Why hand me over to your father?”
9 “Never!” Jonathan said. “If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you?”
