Give [b]me five loaves of bread, or whatever can be found.” 4 The priest answered David and said, “There is no ordinary bread [c]on hand, but there is (A)consecrated bread, if only the young men have (B)kept themselves from women.” 5 David answered the priest and said to him, “(C)Be assured, women have been denied to us as previously when I left and the [d](D)bodies of the young men were consecrated, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then will [e]their bodies be consecrated today?”

3 Now then, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread, or whatever you can find.”
4 But the priest answered David, “I don’t have any ordinary bread(A) on hand; however, there is some consecrated(B) bread here—provided the men have kept(C) themselves from women.”
5 David replied, “Indeed women have been kept from us, as usual(D) whenever[a] I set out. The men’s bodies are holy(E) even on missions that are not holy. How much more so today!”
