⁶ Now it came about, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech ^(A)fled to David at Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

⁹ But David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to ^(A)Abiathar the priest, “^(B)Bring the ephod here.”

⁷ Then ^(A)David said to ^(B)Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

²⁶ Then to Abiathar the priest the king said, “^(A)Go to Anathoth to your own field, ^(B)for you ^[a]deserve to die; but I will not put you to death at this ^[b]time, because ^(C)you carried the ark of the Lord ^[c]God before my father David, and because ^(D)you were afflicted in everything with which my father was afflicted.” ²⁷ So Solomon dismissed Abiathar from being priest to the Lord, to fulfill ^(E)the word of the Lord, which He had spoken regarding the house of Eli in Shiloh.
