1 Samuel 28:2-4
The Voice
David: 2 Good. You will see what your servant can do in battle.
Achish: Excellent. You will be my bodyguard as long as I live.
3 Remember, Samuel had died some time previously and had been mourned by all of Israel. He was buried in his hometown of Ramah, and his wisdom died with him.
Another important thing to know: Saul had ordered all of the mediums and any others who claimed to speak to the dead thrown out of Israel.
4 The Philistines gathered for war, and they made their camp at Shunem. Saul gathered all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa.

New International Version
2 David said, “Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do.”
Achish replied, “Very well, I will make you my bodyguard(A) for life.”
Saul and the Medium at Endor
3 Now Samuel was dead,(B) and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah.(C) Saul had expelled(D) the mediums and spiritists(E) from the land.
4 The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem,(F) while Saul gathered all Israel and set up camp at Gilboa.(G)
