1 Thessalonians 2:11-13 Disciples’ Literal New Testament (DLNT)

11 just-as you know how each one of you, as a father his own children, 12 we were exhorting you and encouraging and testifying so-that you might walk worthily of God, the One calling you into His own kingdom and glory.

And We Thank God You Accepted Our Message As God’s Word, Even Amidst Persecution

13 And for this[a] reason we are indeed[b] giving-thanks to God unceasingly: because having received the word of God heard from us[c], you accepted not the word of humans, but, as it truly is, the word of God, which also is at-work[d] in you, the ones believing.

Footnotes:

  1. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 ‘This reason’ looks forward to ‘because’. Or, if it looks backward, ‘And for this reason, we are indeed giving-thanks to God unceasingly that’.
  2. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 Or, also (along with you).
  3. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 Or, ‘having received from us the word heard from God’.
  4. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 Or, in operation.
