2 and we sent Timothy—our brother, and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of the Messiah—so that he could strengthen you and bring comfort to your faith, 3 so that you wouldn’t be pulled off course by these sufferings. You yourselves know, don’t you, that this is what we are bound to face. 4 For when we were with you, we told you ahead of time that we would undergo suffering; that’s how it has turned out, and you know about it.

2 We sent Timothy,(A) who is our brother and co-worker(B) in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ,(C) to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, 3 so that no one would be unsettled by these trials.(D) For you know quite well that we are destined for them.(E) 4 In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.(F)
