² For you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord^(A) will come just like a thief^(B) in the night.

¹⁰ But the Day of the Lord^(A) will come like a thief;^[a](B) on that day the heavens will pass away^(C) with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved,^(D) and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.^[b]

³ Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come^[a] like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.^[b]
