2 You know very well how the day of the Lord will come. It will come like a thief in the night. 3 People will be saying that everything is peaceful and safe. Then suddenly they will be destroyed. It will happen like birth pains coming on a pregnant woman. None of the people will escape.
4 Brothers and sisters, you are not in darkness. So that day should not surprise you as a thief would.

2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord(A) will come like a thief in the night.(B) 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,”(C) destruction will come on them suddenly,(D) as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.(E)
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness(F) so that this day should surprise you like a thief.(G)
