7 He must also be well reported of among those who are outside, lest he fall into rebuke and the snare of the evil speaker.
8 Likewise must deacons be honourable: not double-tongued, not given to much drinking, nor to the love of money, 9 but having the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,(A) so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.(B)
8 In the same way, deacons[a](C) are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine,(D) and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.(E)
