- 4:5 The invocation of God in prayer: literally, “the word of God and petition.” The use of “word of God” without an article in Greek suggests that it refers to the name of God being invoked in blessing rather than to the “word of God” proclaimed to the community.

3 They forbid people to marry(A) and order them to abstain from certain foods,(B) which God created(C) to be received with thanksgiving(D) by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good,(E) and nothing is to be rejected(F) if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God(G) and prayer.
