¹⁵ And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot^(A) Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused^(B) the Lord’s anger by making Asherah^(C) poles.^[a]

¹⁴ This is what the Lord says: “As for all my wicked neighbors who seize the inheritance^(A) I gave my people Israel, I will uproot^(B) them from their lands and I will uproot^(C) the people of Judah from among them.

²⁸ Just as I watched^(A) over them to uproot^(B) and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,^(C) so I will watch over them to build and to plant,”^(D) declares the Lord.

¹⁰ ‘If you stay in this land,^(A) I will build^(B) you up and not tear you down; I will plant^(C) you and not uproot you,^(D) for I have relented concerning the disaster I have inflicted on you.^(E)
