⁶ And Solomon replied, “You have shown great and faithful love to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and^[a] integrity. You have continued this great and faithful love for him by giving him a son to sit on his throne,^(A) as it is today.^(B)

¹⁴ If you walk in My ways and keep My statutes and commands just as your father David did, I will give you a long life.”^(A)

⁴ When Solomon was old, his wives seduced him to follow other gods. He was not completely devoted to Yahweh his God, as his father David had been.^(A)

⁶ Solomon did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, and unlike his father David, he did not completely follow Yahweh.

⁹ “As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind,^(A) for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought.^(B) If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.^(C)
