21 For you were called to this, because Messiah also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you might follow in His footsteps:

22 “He committed no sin,

nor was any deceit found in His mouth.”[a]

23 When He was abused, He did not return the abuse.[b] While suffering, He made no threats. Instead, He kept entrusting Himself to the One who judges righteously. 24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, removed from sins, might live for righteousness. “By His wounds you were healed.”[c]

25 For you like sheep were going astray,[d]

but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
