3 And they sent and called him: so came Jeroboam and all Israel, and communed with Rehoboam, saying,
4 Thy father [a]made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous servitude of thy father, and his sore yoke that he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
5 And he said to them, Depart yet three days, then come again unto me. And the people departed.

New International Version
3 So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and all Israel(A) went to Rehoboam and said to him: 4 “Your father put a heavy yoke on us,(B) but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
5 Rehoboam answered, “Come back to me in three days.” So the people went away.
