⁵ He also took out of all the cities of Judah ^(A)the high places and the ^(B)incense altars. And the kingdom had rest under him.

³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the ^(A)Asherim, and the carved and the metal images. ⁴ And they chopped down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and he cut down the ^(B)incense altars that stood above them. And he broke in pieces the ^(C)Asherim and the carved and the metal images, and he made dust of them and ^(D)scattered it over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

⁷ he broke down the altars and beat the ^(A)Asherim and the images ^(B)into powder and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

³ and say, ^(A)You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to ^(B)the mountains and ^(C)the hills, to ^(D)the ravines and the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, ^(E)and I will destroy your high places. ^4 (F)Your altars shall become desolate, and your ^(G)incense altars shall be broken, and I will cast down your slain before your idols. ^5 (H)And I will lay the dead bodies of the people of Israel before their idols, ^(I)and I will scatter your bones around your altars. ⁶ Wherever you dwell, ^(J)the cities shall be waste and ^(K)the high places ruined, so that your altars will be waste and ruined,^[a] your idols broken and destroyed, your ^(L)incense altars cut down, and your works wiped out.
