2 Then some came and reported to Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from [a]Aram; and behold, they are in (A)Hazazon-tamar (that is Engedi).” 3 Jehoshaphat was afraid and [b](B)turned his attention to seek the Lord; and he (C)proclaimed a period of fasting throughout Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to (D)seek help from the Lord; they even came from all the cities of Judah to seek the Lord.

New International Version
2 Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army(A) is coming against you from Edom,[a] from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar(B)” (that is, En Gedi).(C) 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast(D) for all Judah. 4 The people of Judah(E) came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
