God helped Uzziah[a] defeat the Philistines, the Arabians who lived in Gur-baal, and the Meunites. The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah, and his reputation extended as far as the border with Egypt as he became stronger and stronger. Uzziah also built towers in Jerusalem, at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle[b] and fortified them.
