Jehoiakim King of Judah(A)
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he ·was king [reigned] in Jerusalem for eleven years. He did ·what the Lord said was wrong [evil in the Lord’s sight/eyes]. 6 King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked ·Judah [L him], ·captured Jehoiakim [bound him], put bronze chains on him, and ·took him [carried him away] to Babylon. 7 Nebuchadnezzar removed some of the ·things [articles; vessels] from the ·Temple [L house] of the Lord, took them to Babylon, and put them in his own ·palace [or temple; L house].
8 The ·other things Jehoiakim did as king [rest of the events/acts/history of Jehoiakim], the ·hateful [detestable; abominable] things he did, and everything ·he was guilty of doing [found against him], ·are [L are they not…?] written in the ·book [scroll] of the kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiakim’s son Jehoiachin became king in his place.

Jehoiakim King of Judah(A)
5 Jehoiakim(B) was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God. 6 Nebuchadnezzar(C) king of Babylon attacked him and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.(D) 7 Nebuchadnezzar also took to Babylon articles from the temple of the Lord and put them in his temple[a] there.(E)
8 The other events of Jehoiakim’s reign, the detestable things he did and all that was found against him, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son succeeded him as king.

35 Jehoiakim gave ·King Neco [L Pharaoh] the silver and gold he demanded. Jehoiakim taxed the land and took silver and gold from the people of the land to give to ·King [L Pharaoh] Neco. Each person had to pay ·his share [according to his wealth/assessment].
Jehoiakim King of Judah
36 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he was king in Jerusalem for eleven years. His mother’s name was Zebidah daughter of Pedaiah, who was from Rumah. 37 Jehoiakim did ·what the Lord said was wrong [L evil in the eyes/sight of the Lord], just as his ·ancestors [fathers] had done.
24 While Jehoiakim was king, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked the land of Judah. So Jehoiakim became Nebu-chadnezzar’s ·servant [vassal] for three years. Then he turned against Nebuchadnezzar and ·broke away from his rule [rebelled]. 2 The Lord sent raiding ·parties [bands] from Babylon, Aram, Moab, and Ammon against Jehoiakim to destroy Judah. This happened ·as the Lord had said it would [L in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken] through his servants the prophets.
3 The Lord commanded this to happen to the people of Judah, to remove them from his ·presence [sight], because of all the sins of Manasseh. 4 He had killed many innocent people and had filled Jerusalem with their blood. And the Lord would not forgive these sins.
5 The other things that happened while Jehoiakim was king and all he did ·are [L are they not…?] written in the book of the ·history [chronicles; annals; 1:18] of the kings of Judah. 6 Jehoiakim ·died [L lay down/T slept with his fathers/ancestors], and his son Jehoiachin became king in his place.
7 The king of Egypt did not ·leave [march/venture out from] his land again, because the king of Babylon had captured all that belonged to the king of Egypt, from the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

35 Jehoiakim paid Pharaoh Necho the silver and gold he demanded. In order to do so, he taxed the land and exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land according to their assessments.(A)
Jehoiakim King of Judah(B)
36 Jehoiakim(C) was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Zebidah daughter of Pedaiah; she was from Rumah. 37 And he did evil(D) in the eyes of the Lord, just as his predecessors had done.
24 During Jehoiakim’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar(E) king of Babylon invaded(F) the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he turned against Nebuchadnezzar and rebelled.(G) 2 The Lord sent Babylonian,[a](H) Aramean,(I) Moabite and Ammonite raiders(J) against him to destroy(K) Judah, in accordance with the word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants the prophets.(L) 3 Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command,(M) in order to remove them from his presence(N) because of the sins of Manasseh(O) and all he had done, 4 including the shedding of innocent blood.(P) For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.(Q)
5 As for the other events of Jehoiakim’s reign,(R) and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 6 Jehoiakim rested(S) with his ancestors. And Jehoiachin(T) his son succeeded him as king.
7 The king of Egypt(U) did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon(V) had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River.
