21 [a]And it is God which established us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us.
22 Who hath also sealed us, and hath given the [b]earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
23 [c]Now, I call God for a record unto my [d]soul, that to spare you, I came not as yet unto Corinth.

- 2 Corinthians 1:21 He attributeth the praise of this constancy, only to the grace of God, through the holy Ghost, and therewithall concludeth that they cannot doubt of his faith, and his fellows, without doing injury to the Spirit of God, seeing that they themselves do know all this to be true.

New International Version
21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm(A) in Christ. He anointed(B) us, 22 set his seal(C) of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.(D)
23 I call God as my witness(E)—and I stake my life on it—that it was in order to spare you(F) that I did not return to Corinth.
