2 Corinthians 1:21-23
New Matthew Bible
21 For it is God who established us and you in Christ, and has anointed us; 22 who has also sealed us, and has given the earnest of the Spirit into our hearts.
He explains the reason for his absence. He exhorts them to forgive the man who was fallen, and to receive him again with love.
23 I call God as a witness to my soul that it was to favour you that I did not go any more to Corinth.

New International Version
21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm(A) in Christ. He anointed(B) us, 22 set his seal(C) of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.(D)
23 I call God as my witness(E)—and I stake my life on it—that it was in order to spare you(F) that I did not return to Corinth.
