Forgiving a Christian
5 If someone among you has brought sorrow, he has not made me as sad as he has all of you. I say this so I may not make it hard for you. 6 Most of you have punished him. That is enough for such a person.

4 For I wrote you(A) out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.
Forgiveness for the Offender
5 If anyone has caused grief,(B) he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent—not to put it too severely. 6 The punishment(C) inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient.
