6 But the children of the murderers he did not execute, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which the Lord commanded, saying, (A)“Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall be put to death for his own sin.”

6 Yet he did not put the children of the assassins to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book of the Law(A) of Moses where the Lord commanded: “Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.”[a](B)

18 Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire(A) of the Lord, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard: 19 Because your heart was responsive and you humbled(B) yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse[a](C) and be laid waste(D)—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. 20 Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace.(E) Your eyes(F) will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.’”
So they took her answer back to the king.
