Can he indeed break the covenant and escape? 16 As I live,’ declares the Lord God, ‘In the [d]country of the king who [e]put him on the throne, whose oath he (C)despised and whose covenant he broke, [f](D)in Babylon he shall certainly die. 17 (E)Pharaoh with his mighty army and great contingent will not [g]help him in the war, when they pile up assault ramps and build siege walls to eliminate many lives.

16 “‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, he shall die(E) in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose treaty he broke.(F) 17 Pharaoh(G) with his mighty army and great horde will be of no help to him in war, when ramps(H) are built and siege works erected to destroy many lives.(I)
