³³ Pharaoh Necho put him in chains at Riblah^(A) in the land of Hamath^(B) so that he might not reign in Jerusalem, and he imposed on Judah a levy of a hundred talents^[a] of silver and a talent^[b] of gold. ³⁴ Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim^(C) son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah and changed Eliakim’s name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt, and there he died.^(D)

¹¹ For this is what the Lord says about Shallum^[a](A) son of Josiah, who succeeded his father as king of Judah but has gone from this place: “He will never return. ¹² He will die^(B) in the place where they have led him captive; he will not see this land again.”
