10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

11 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it.

12 Jehoiachin king of Judah surrendered to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, princes, and palace officials. The king of Babylon took him prisoner in the eighth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign.

13 He carried off all the treasures of the Lord’s house and the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold in the temple of the Lord, which Solomon king of Israel had made, as the Lord had said.

14 He carried away all Jerusalem, all the princes, all the mighty men of valor, 10,000 captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except the poorest of the land.

10 At that time the officers of Nebuchadnezzar(A) king of Babylon advanced on Jerusalem and laid siege to it, 11 and Nebuchadnezzar himself came up to the city while his officers were besieging it. 12 Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered(B) to him.

In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner. 13 As the Lord had declared,(C) Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures(D) from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles(E) that Solomon(F) king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord. 14 He carried all Jerusalem into exile:(G) all the officers and fighting men,(H) and all the skilled workers and artisans—a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest(I) people of the land were left.

11 Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, even turning aside that they might not obey Your voice. Therefore the curse has been poured out on us and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.(A)

12 And He has carried out intact His [threatening] words which He threatened against us and against our judges [the kings, princes, and rulers generally] who ruled us, and He has brought upon us a great evil; for under the whole heavens there has not been done before [anything so dreadful] as [He has caused to be] done against Jerusalem.

13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses as to all this evil [that would surely come upon transgressors], so it has come upon us. Yet we have not earnestly begged for forgiveness and entreated the favor of the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and have understanding and become wise in Your truth.(B)

14 Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity (evil) and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is [uncompromisingly] righteous and rigidly just in all His works which He does [keeping His word]; and we have not obeyed His voice.

11 All Israel has transgressed(A) your law(B) and turned away, refusing to obey you.

“Therefore the curses(C) and sworn judgments(D) written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned(E) against you. 12 You have fulfilled(F) the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster.(G) Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like(H) what has been done to Jerusalem.(I) 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord(J) our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth.(K) 14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster(L) on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does;(M) yet we have not obeyed him.(N)
