Zedekiah Reigns in Judah^(A)

¹⁷ Then ^(B)the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, ^(C)Jehoiachin’s^[a] uncle, king in his place, and ^(D)changed his name to Zedekiah.

¹⁵ The sons of Josiah were Johanan the firstborn, the second ^[a]Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, and the fourth ^[b]Shallum.

Zedekiah Reigns in Judah^(A)

^11 (B)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. ¹² He did evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and ^(C)did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of the Lord. ¹³ And he also ^(D)rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear an oath by God; but he ^(E)stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord God of Israel.

² In the ^(A)eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the ^[a]city was penetrated.
