Ahaziah King of Judah

²⁵Ahaziah began to rule as king over Judah. It was in the 12th year that Joram was king of Israel. Joram was the son of Ahab. Ahaziah was the son of Jehoram. ²⁶Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah. She was a granddaughter of Omri. Omri had been the king of Israel. ²⁷Ahaziah followed the ways of the royal family of Ahab. Ahaziah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, just as the family of Ahab had done. That’s because he had married into Ahab’s family.

Ahaziah King of Judah^(A)

²⁵In the twelfth^(B) year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. ²⁶Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah,^(C) a granddaughter of Omri^(D) king of Israel. ²⁷He followed the ways of the house of Ahab^(E) and did evil^(F) in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab’s family.
