17 For he [a]received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: 18 and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a [b]dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[a](A) 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.(B)
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable,(C) and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light(D) shining in a dark place, until the day dawns(E) and the morning star(F) rises in your hearts.(G)
