8 I gave you your lord’s house and your lord’s wives for your own. I gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were not enough, I could count up for you still more. 9 Why have you despised the Lord and done what is evil in his sight? You have cut down Uriah the Hittite with the sword; his wife you took as your own, and him you killed with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.(A)

8 I gave your master’s house to you,(A) and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. 9 Why did you despise(B) the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down(C) Uriah(D) the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed(E) him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword(F) will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’
