Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon’s house, and dress him meat.

¶ So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house, and he lay down: and she took [a]flour, and knead it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

And she took a pan, and [b]poured them out before him, but he would not eat. Then Amnon said, Cause ye every man to go out from [c]me: so every man went out from him.

David sent word to Tamar at the palace: “Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him.” So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it. Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat.

“Send everyone out of here,”(A) Amnon said. So everyone left him.
