7 then they came to the (A)fortress of Tyre and to all the cities of the (B)Hivites and of the Canaanites, and they went out to the south of Judah, to (C)Beersheba. 8 So when they had roamed about through the whole land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days. 9 And Joab gave (D)the number of the census of the people to the king: in Israel there were (E)eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

New International Version
7 Then they went toward the fortress of Tyre(A) and all the towns of the Hivites(B) and Canaanites. Finally, they went on to Beersheba(C) in the Negev(D) of Judah.
8 After they had gone through the entire land, they came back to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Joab reported the number of the fighting men to the king: In Israel there were eight hundred thousand able-bodied men who could handle a sword, and in Judah five hundred thousand.(E)
