6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there because he put forth his hand to the ark;[a] and he died there beside the ark of God. 8 And David was angry because the Lord had broken forth upon Uzzah; and that place is called Pe′rez-uz′zah,[b] to this day.

6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of(A) the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act;(B) therefore God struck him down,(C) and he died there beside the ark of God.
8 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath(D) had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[a](E)
