⁹ that is, the one whose ^[a]coming is in accord with the activity of ^(A)Satan, with all power and false ^[b](B)signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with ^[c]all the deception of wickedness for ^(C)those who perish, because they did not accept the love of ^(D)the truth so as to be saved. ¹¹ For this reason ^(E)God ^[d]will send upon them ^[e]a ^(F)deluding influence so that they will believe ^[f]what is false, ¹² in order that they all may be ^[g]judged who ^(G)did not believe the truth, but ^[h](H)took pleasure in wickedness.

Stand Firm

^13 (I)But we should always give thanks to God for you, ^(J)brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because ^(K)God has chosen you ^[i]from the beginning ^(L)for salvation ^[j](M)through sanctification ^[k]by the Spirit and faith in the truth. ¹⁴ It was for this He ^(N)called you through ^(O)our gospel, ^[l]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁵ So then, brothers and sisters, ^(P)stand firm and ^(Q)hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether ^(R)by word of mouth or ^(S)by letter ^[m]from us.

^16 (T)Now may our Lord Jesus Christ ^(U)Himself and God our Father, who has ^(V)loved us and given us eternal comfort and ^(W)good hope by grace, ^17 (X)comfort and ^(Y)strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Abandonment of Faith

4 But ^(A)the Spirit explicitly says that ^(B)in later times some will ^[a]fall away from the faith, paying attention to ^(C)deceitful spirits and ^(D)teachings of demons,

²⁴ But I say to you, the rest who are in ^(A)Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the ^(B)deep things of Satan, as they call them—I ^(C)place no other burden on you.
