that is, the one whose [a]coming is in accord with the activity of (A)Satan, with all power and false [b](B)signs and wonders, 10 and with [c]all the deception of wickedness for (C)those who perish, because they did not accept the love of (D)the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason (E)God [d]will send upon them [e]a (F)deluding influence so that they will believe [f]what is false, 12 in order that they all may be [g]judged who (G)did not believe the truth, but [h](H)took pleasure in wickedness.

13 (I)But we should always give thanks to God for you, (J)brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because (K)God has chosen you [i]from the beginning (L)for salvation [j](M)through sanctification [k]by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He (N)called you through (O)our gospel, [l]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, (P)stand firm and (Q)hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether (R)by word of mouth or (S)by letter [m]from us.

16 (T)Now may our Lord Jesus Christ (U)Himself and God our Father, who has (V)loved us and given us eternal comfort and (W)good hope by grace, 17 (X)comfort and (Y)strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan(A) works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders(B) that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.(C) They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.(D) 11 For this reason God sends them(E) a powerful delusion(F) so that they will believe the lie(G) 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.(H)

13 But we ought always to thank God for you,(I) brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[a](J) to be saved(K) through the sanctifying work of the Spirit(L) and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you(M) to this through our gospel,(N) that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm(O) and hold fast to the teachings[b] we passed on to you,(P) whether by word of mouth or by letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,(Q) who loved us(R) and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage(S) your hearts and strengthen(T) you in every good deed and word.
