9 God is the one who saved and called us with a holy calling. This wasn’t based on what we have done, but it was based on his own purpose and grace that he gave us in Christ Jesus before time began. 10 Now his grace is revealed through the appearance of our savior, Christ Jesus. He destroyed death and brought life and immortality into clear focus through the good news. 11 I was appointed a messenger, apostle, and teacher of this good news.

9 He has saved(A) us and called(B) us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done(C) but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed(D) through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus,(E) who has destroyed death(F) and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel(G) I was appointed(H) a herald and an apostle and a teacher.(I)
