18 who have deviated from the truth by claiming that the resurrection has already happened. This has undermined some people’s faith.
19 God’s solid foundation is still standing with this sign: The Lord knows the people who belong to him,[a] and Everyone who confesses the Lord’s name must avoid wickedness.[b] 20 In a mansion, there aren’t just gold and silver bowls but also some bowls that are made of wood and clay. Some are meant for special uses, some for garbage.[c]

18 who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place,(A) and they destroy the faith of some.(B) 19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm,(C) sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”(D) and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord(E) must turn away from wickedness.”
20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.(F)
