4 who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God.(A) 5 For as Christ’s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ[a] does our encouragement also overflow.

4 who comforts us(A) in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ,(B) so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
