2 and killed the apostle[a] James (John’s brother). 3 When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish leaders, he arrested Peter during the Passover celebration 4 and imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of sixteen soldiers. Herod’s intention was to deliver Peter to the Jews for execution after the Passover.

New International Version
2 He had James, the brother of John,(A) put to death with the sword.(B) 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews,(C) he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.(D) 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.(E)
