As usual, Paul went into the synagogue. On three consecutive days of rest—holy days, he had discussions about Scripture with the synagogue members. He explained and showed them that the Messiah had to suffer, die, and come back to life, and that Jesus, the person he talked about, was this Messiah.

Some of the Jews were persuaded to join Paul and Silas, especially a large group of Greeks who had converted to Judaism and the wives of many prominent men.

As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue,(A) and on three Sabbath(B) days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,(C) explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer(D) and rise from the dead.(E) “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,”(F) he said. Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas,(G) as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.
