2 where he found a Jewish man named Aquila,(A) a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius[a] had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul came to them, 3 and being of the same occupation, stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers[b] by trade.(B) 4 He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and tried to persuade both Jews and Greeks.(C)

2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla,(A) because Claudius(B) had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.(C) 4 Every Sabbath(D) he reasoned in the synagogue,(E) trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
