32 Immediately the tribune[a] took some soldiers and officers and ran down to the crowd.[b] When the people[c] saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 Then the tribune came up, grabbed Paul,[d] and ordered him to be tied up with two chains. He then asked who Paul[e] was and what he had done. 34 Some of the crowd shouted this and some that. Since the tribune[f] couldn’t learn the facts due to the confusion, he ordered Paul[g] to be taken into the barracks.

33 The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound(B) with two(C) chains.(D) Then he asked who he was and what he had done. 34 Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another,(E) and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.(F)
