5 Then Paul said, I did not know, brethren, that he was the prince of the priests, for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
6 ¶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the multitude was divided.

New International Version
5 Paul replied, “Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’[a]”(A)
6 Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees(B) and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “My brothers,(C) I am a Pharisee,(D) descended from Pharisees. I stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.”(E) 7 When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
