Acts 27:12-14

12 It was not a good place to spend the winter. Most of those on the ship wanted to go on and try to get to Phoenix. Crete was a good place to tie up the ship. They wanted to spend the winter there. 13 When a south wind started to blow, they thought their plan was right. They pulled up the anchor and went close to the shore of Crete.
14 Later a bad wind storm came down from the land. It was called a northeaster.

New International Version
12 Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there. This was a harbor in Crete,(A) facing both southwest and northwest.
The Storm
13 When a gentle south wind began to blow, they saw their opportunity; so they weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete. 14 Before very long, a wind of hurricane force,(B) called the Northeaster, swept down from the island.
